Google TV is one of the most comfortable ways to access your favorite content through one app. No matter if you like Amazon shows, Hulu, HBO, or even Apple TV+: they are all on Google TV. Not versatile yet, this service covers most of the watcher’s preferences.
As for December 2021, the list includes Amazon Prime, AMC, Apple TV+, DC Universe, Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max, NBC, Paramount+, Stars, and other popular subscription services. Most of them require users’ credentials for watching, as access to them is paid. It still makes sense to watch these through Google TV, given how easier it is to find the right titles among all of them. There is also a recommendation system that works across VOD services. As for Live TV, there are YouTube TV, Sling TV, Philo, and Pluto TV.
Of course, there are Google’s own services, like YouTube TV and Google Play Movies. They are positioned, though, equally with the others. In different countries, Google TV may also feature regional streaming services: they can be found in Germany, France, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Sweden, and Denmark.
The saddest exception is, of course, Netflix. Not wishing to allow watching its content outside of its native app, Netflix bans its content from accessing through Google TV. It seems not much of a problem, because there are Netflix apps for everything Android-based, including Smart TV and Chromecast as well as phones and tablets. The price of the subscription remains the same as well. Still, it’s sad to run one more app to watch Stranger Things or Don’t Look Up while Amazon and HBO are available under Google TV.
Do you use an Android device to watch live TV or VOD? Do you find it comfortable to access your subscriptions from one app? And would you like to see Netflix join the party? If you have anything to add or ask, welcome to the comments!
