One of the top WhatsApp update trackers WABetaInfo reports that the messenger is asking some users to update their apps to see message reactions. Most probably, the Facebook-owned messenger is revealing an Instagram-like option to react to received messages in chat threads.
More Expressive
Currently, you can communicate on WhatsApp using emojis, animated stickers, and GIFs. Actually, every messenger out there has this feature at the moment, so they don’t make their apps more competitive. However, message reactions are available only in a small number of apps, and one of them is another Facebook-owned service, Instagram. Given that, it should be quite easy for the company to transfer the feature to WhatsApp. For some reason, the development has only started, and there’s no official announcement of the feature yet.
All we have is a leaked screenshot that asks a user to update the app to view message reactions in chats. When the feature rolls out globally, all the users who didn’t update the app to the latest version will receive this message. It means that reaction will be available only to a limited number of smartphone users whose devices support the upcoming version. Besides, the feature will be available in the desktop and web versions of Messenger. The second won’t require any updates as it works only from a website. Hopefully, we will be able to test WhatsApp reactions in the next beta.
A Necessary Addition
Other popular social apps, including iMessage, Twitter, and Instagram have introduced message reactions long ago, and WhatsApp looks a bit outdated without them. What else would you like to see in the newer versions of this popular messenger? Will the new reactions feature gain your interest back? You can leave a comment below and share the leak with your tech-savvy friends
